Police Investigating Veterans Day Double Suicide

An 82-year-old war veteran and his 52-year-old son apparently took their own lives in an apartment on Camara Circle on Veterans Day last week.

Candles and flowers adorn the doorstep of an apartment on Camara Circle, paying tribute to the two men who died inside last Sunday.

The father and son apparently took their own lives, according to the Contra Costa County Coroner. Neighbors say Edward Thomas Madrigal, an 84-year-old war veteran, and Edward Alan Madrigal, 52, were inseperable.

The younger Madrigal was a carer to his elderly father, according to neighbors, who say that the bodies were discovered by the younger Madrigal's girlfriend on Nov. 11.

Police investigated the scene for around 12 hours, say neighbors, before removing the bodies just before 10 p.m. No details have been released, but a bullet hole in the exterior apartment window suggest that gunfire was involved.
