Police Identify Man Hit and Killed By Car on Clayton Road

Robert Vidakovich, 78, was hit by a car Saturday on Clayton Road at Denkinger and later died from his injuries in hospital. The driver was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, but released pending an investigation.

Concord police have identified the pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle Saturday morning on Clayton Road at Denkinger as 78-year-old Robert Vidakovich, a Concord resident.

Vidakovich was taken to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek after the collision and later died from his injuries.

The driver, 42-year-old Allen Abreu from Concord, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter. According to police, Abreu was released after his arrest, pending further investigation of evidence and toxicology reports. No formal charges have been filed with the district attorney.
