Concord police were on scene at 2:45 p.m.

An injured person was taken away by ambulance Wednesday afternoon after crashing his car into a utility pole on Willow Pass Road near Farm Bureau Road.

"I heard a really loud 'BOOM' sound then looked around and saw the guy open the door and fall out," said Daniel Maestas, 49, who witnessed the 2:40 p.m. accident from approximately 70 yards away. "He seemed roughed up but not too serious."

Maestas said the car hit a utility manhole on the sidewalk near the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Center before hitting an utility pole.
