Blaze caused $110,000 damage, according to ConFire.

A Concord family is safe and uninjured despite facing a late afternoon fire that left their home significantly damaged this Valentine's Day.

Capt. Ed Estrada, of ConFire Engine 11, said fire personnel encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the front door and windows of the Angi Lane residence - which is adjacent to Olive Drive - around 5 p.m.

Confire said the blaze caused $110,000 damage.

"The family was out of the house when we pulled up," said Estrada. "Nobody got hurt and that's the important part."

Estrada added that the fire spread in the home's attic, requiring the entire roof to be "pulled off."

Though Estrada could not confirm at the time, the captain believes the blaze appeared to start in the kitchen at the stove-top.

The fire was classified as a residential one-alarm fire, which in Contra Costa County, means four fire engines, one ladder truck and two battalion chiefs responded.
