Major-Injury Crash in Concord Closed Freeway Off-Ramp

One person was seriously injured in 2:10 a.m. crash.

The state Highway 4 off-ramp onto southbound state Highway 242 in Concord reopened this morning after it was closed for more than an hour after a major-injury crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Sig-alert was issued for the multi-vehicle crash, which closed the off-ramp. The crash was reported at 2:10 a.m. The alert was issued at 2:43 a.m. and canceled at 3:37 a.m., according to the CHP.

The crash initially involved only one vehicle, but then a second vehicle hit that car and spun out and came to a rest which led to a third vehicle getting involved in the crash, a CHP officer said.

One person somehow ended up in the road with major injuries, according to the officer.

Medical crews arrived at the crash this morning, while CHP officials investigated the pile-up.
