Man Run Over and Killed on Clayton Road in Concord

A 60-year-old transient was killed when he was run over by a vehicle early Sunday.

Bay City News — A 60-year-old Concord man was hit by a vehicle early Sunday and pronounced dead at the scene, a Concord police official said.

The man, a transient, was struck in the 4000 block of Clayton Road, near the intersection of Rosal Lane about midnight, police officials said.

The driver of the vehicle was a 51-year-old Concord woman and preliminary investigations indicate that she was not impaired.

Witnesses said that the man was standing on the raised center median and stepped into the eastbound lane, according to police.

The roadway was shut down for about two hours while police conducted an investigation.
