Fire Near Concord Contained At 150 Acres

Firefighters extinguish blaze on Army property between Pittsburg and Concord

A vegetation fire in the hills between Pittsburg and Concord grew
to 150 acres before it was contained Monday night, fire officials said.

The fire was between Bailey and Kirker Pass roads and believed to be on the U.S. Army Military Ocean Terminal Concord, according to the Contra
Costa County Fire Protection District. It was reported at 5:41 p.m.

No structures were threatened by the fire, which spread slowly and was difficult for firefighters to access, according to fire officials.

Cal Fire responded, making aerial drops to attack the fire and federal firefighters also responded as the fire is believed to have been on federal property.

The fire was contained at 150 acres by 7:45 p.m. The cause is under investigation.
