Fire Crews Battling Mount Diablo Blaze Near Clayton, Evacuations in Progress

Residents of Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon Road and Curry Point have been ordered to evacuate to Clayton Community Library.

Update, 2:20 a.m. 
As of 11:40 p.m. Sunday, about 800 acres were still burning and the blaze was roughly 10 percent contained, Cal Fire officials said. Around 50 to 75 structures are threatened by the fire, according to Cal Fire. Sheriff's officials announced that additional homes on Trail Ride, Russelmann Park, East Trail, Upper Trail and Lower Trail roads also were evacuated.

Update, 7:30 p.m.
The Morgan Fire has grown to 800 acres and remains 10 percent contained, according to Cal Fire. More than 250 firefighters are on the ground working to the stem the blaze's progress. Four airtankers and three helicopters are fighting the fire from above. The fire reached the North Peak at 7:15 p.m. 

Update, 6:15 p.m.
The fire is 400 acres and 10 percent contained, according to Cal Fire. Here's the official evacuation order from the Contra Costa Sheriff: Due to a fire hazard, an immediate evacuation has been ordered for all residents and people on Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon Road and the Curry Point area.

Leave now by car. Go by way of Morgan Territory Road. Take only those essential items you have ready and can carry with you. Pets must be in a carrier or on a leash. Lock your windows and doors as you leave. Stay off the phone unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency at your location. However, if you are physically unable to leave your home unassisted, call 9-1-1 for help.

Update, 5 p.m.:
Mandatory evacuations in Clayton are in progress as more than 175 firefighters battle a 300-acre fire on the eastern slope of Mount Diablo, which is threatening as many as 75 structures, according to Cal Fire. Officials are telling residents in the area of Morgan Territory Road to evacuate and go to Diablo View School in Clayton. 

Update, 4:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reported that mandatory evacuations are underway near the Morgan Fire on the east side of Mt. Diablo. The evacuations are on Curry Canyon Road and Oak Hill Lane. 

Update, 4 p.m., Bay City News: 
The Morgan Fire burning on the east side of Mount Diablo has grown to around 350 acres, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District official said Sunday afternoon.  

Update, 3:30 p.m.:
Cal Fire reports that the Morgan Fire near Clayton has spread to 170 acres and is 10 percent contained. 

Firefighters from several departments are fighting a grass fire on Morgan Territory Road near Clayton. At 2:50 p.m the blaze had reached 15 acres, according to a Cal Fire tweet. Smoke from the fire was visible from the Bay Bridge

Another fire was burning Sunday afternoon at the same time. The Sonoma County Schellville fire has burned 30 acres and three structures. State Highway 121 was closed as of 4:15 p.m.
