UPDATE, 11:30 a.m.:  An elderly woman who was killed in a two-car crash in Concord on Saturday has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 88-year-old Sarah Simmons.

Officers responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Treat Boulevard and San Miguel Road at about 1:55 p.m., police said.

Simmons was driving a 2010 Honda Accord attempted to make
a left turn from southbound San Miguel Road onto eastbound Treat Boulevard,
according to police.

As Simmons was making the turn, a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck heading west on Treat Boulevard collided with the Honda, police said.

Simmons was transported to John Muir Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call traffic Officer Scott Delbo at (925) 671-3311, ext. 4478.

They way they drive down Treat it doesn't surprise me , I never see a cop around there and they come down the hill 60 mph or more in a rush to get to the Freeway.

I commute everyday west bound on Treat Blvd and the drive is always treacherous. Drivers exceeding the speed limit, making unsafe lane changes and cutting drivers off with these unsafe driving habits. It is only a matter of time before there are more horrific crashes such as the one that killed the father and his daughter last year. Drivers need to slow down and get up earlier if you are constantly running late for work before your unsafe driving habits injure or kill someone.
