Video: Distracted Drivers Memorial at State Capitol
Members of the Nuri family were invited to attend a memorial for distracted drivers at the State Capitol on Monday.
A memorial held to highlight the dangers of distracted driving was held at the on Monday. The event was organized by Impact Teen Drivers and the California Highway Patrol.
The attended the event after being invited by Kelly Browning, Impact Teen Drivers' executive director. The Nuri family recently lost Soliman Nuri, 41, and his daughter Hadessa Nuri, 9, killed after being hit by an SUV on April 7.
Although has been made by the Concord Police Department that distracted driving was the cause of the accident, the SUV was being driven by a 17-year-old when it struck and killed as they were riding their bicycles home from the park.
