Construction Crews Dug Into Gas Line

All roads have reopened, after PG&E crews repaired a broken gas line on Monument Boulevard in Concord.

At about 12:21, a backhoe dug into a natural gas pipeline on a construction site in the 2000 block of Monument Boulevard.

"The gas dissipates into the atmosphere when it is released in that kind of environment," said  PG&E Spokespserson Tomar Sarkissan, highlighting the diminished danger level the situation poses to local residents.

Crews repaired the gas pipeline 1:20 p.m., Sarkissan told Patch.  All lanes on Monument Boulevard have reopened to through traffic.
