Patel was charged with battery on a spouse cohabitant or a child's parent and false imprisonment by force -- charges that stem from an arrest in San Ramon on Feb. 16, Deputy District Attorney Rachel Piersig said last month.
Though further details were not made public, Concord police Chief Guy Swanger said Patel was placed on paid administrative leave as an internal investigation into the incident is carried out.
