Concord Police Lieutenant Accused of Sexual Harassment

Lt. Robin Heinemann, who recently received a $150,000 settlement against the city for sexual discrimination, is named in lawsuit.

A Concord police lieutenant who recently settled a $150,000 discrimination lawsuit against the Concord Police Department is facing charges of sexual harassment.

Community Service Officer Wendy Schwartzenberger last week filed a lawsuit against Lt. Robin Heinemann, accusing her supervisor of a variety of inappropriate comments and harassing actions, including calling Schwartzenberger a “dike,” fondling her buttocks and making sexual comments about other co-workers.

The city of Concord denies the accusations and issued this statement: "The factual allegations of the complaint are false, the lawsuit is legally unmeritorious, and we will vigorously defend both Lt. Heinemann and the city of Concord," said Mark Coon, the city's assistant city attorney.

Besides the recent sex discrimination settlement, Heinemann—the department’s highest ranking female officer — was one of eight women who split a $1.25 million settlement in 1998 after suing the department for sexual harassment.

Schwartzenberger’s attorneys did not return calls from Patch on Wednesday.
