Concord PD Investigates Morning Shooting, Seeks Info

Police are investigating a shooting in Concord this morning that left a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Laguna Street near Detroit Avenue about 10:40 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired and people fleeing the area.

Police arrived to find the 23-year-old with a gunshot wound to one of his legs.

The victim told officers that he was standing on a sidewalk on Laguna Street when he saw a man across the street staring at him.

He reported that for unknown reasons, the man began firing a handgun at him, hitting his leg before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police searched the area with the help of a Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office canine but were unable to locate the suspect.

The shooter is described as a Hispanic man who is between 21 and 25 years old, measuring 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a thin build and wearing dark jeans.
