Concord Man Suspect in Pittsburg Deadly Chase Dies

Two have died and two were injured in Monday's deadly police chase in Pittsburg.

A Concord parolee whose passanger died when he crashed his car while fleeing from Pittsburg police Monday has died, according to the Contra Costa Times

Jacquay Jackson, 26, the parolee, died at a local hospital yesterday evening while his 46-year-old unidentified female passanger was pronounced dead on scene.

Pittsburg police attempted to pull over a truck for speeding at around 10:40 a.m. Monday and the truck fled west on Buchanan Road. Officers initiated a chase but slowed down when the suspect vehicle exceeded speeds of 70 mph, Lt. Ron Raman said.

The suspect's truck crashed into a SUV that was heading northbound on Railroad Avenue at Buchanan Road, causing the SUV to collide with another truck that was heading southbound on Railroad Avenue.

Two occupants in the suspect vehicle were trapped and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was called to use the Jaws of Life to free them, Raman said.

Police said the female passenger, a Pittsburg resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

Jackson was transported to a hospital under serious condition and later died.

He was a parolee with a significant criminal record, Raman said.

The two occupants of the SUV are listed in serious but stable condition and were transported to a hospital.

The third vehicle sustained minor damage and the passengers of that vehicle were not injured, Raman said.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash in coordination with the District Attorney's Office, the Parole Board and the California Highway Patrol.
