Concord Man Suffers Major Injuries After Being Struck by Car

Man, 52, hit while crossing street Sunday night.

A man is clinging to life at a hospital after being struck by a car while crossing a street in Concord Sunday evening, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a collision between a car and pedestrian in the 4600 block of Clayton Road at about 6:15 p.m., police said.

The driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling east on Clayton Road and hit a 52-year-old Concord man who was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk, according to police.

The man was transported to John Muir Medical Center to be treated for injuries considered life-threatening, police said.

Clayton Road was closed for several hours as police investigated the site of the collision.
