Clayton Police Still Investigating Oktoberfest Beating

Police are still looking for eight to 10 young men responsible for the beating of a 19-year-old woman.

It's been nearly three weeks since a 19-year-old woman was physically assaulted after Clayton's downtown Oktoberfest celebration, but there's still been no arrests in the case.

Officers are currently contacting individuals they want to interview about the incident, but arrests do not appear imminent, said Clayton Police Chief Dan Lawrence.

Complicating the investigation is the victim is out of state, working for a traveling carnival in Texas. Lawrence said it could be difficult to bring her back to Clayton if a police lineup is needed to identify the suspects.

Lawrence said it's now clear the victim did not know her attackers.

The attack happened about 9 p.m. when eight to 10 young men punched and kicked the victim at Oak and Main streets near the entrance to the pedestrian tunnel that leads to the library.

The victim lost consciousness, suffered a broken nose and a concussion and was treated at a hospital for her injuries.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males between the ages of 17 and 19. They were accompanied by a white female between the age of 17 and 19.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Clayton Police Department at 925-673-7350.
