Burglary Suspect Escapes Concord Police, Flees Into Park

A suspect seen looking through a home's windows in a Concord neighborhood eluded police this morning despite getting shot with a pellet bag from a shotgun as he fled, police said.

Police had responded to reports of a possible burglary in progress in the 1200 block of Hale Drive at about 11 a.m.

A witness reported seeing a man try to open the front door of a neighbor's home and then looking through its windows before leaving, police said. The neighbors were not home at the time, police said.

Officers responded and set up a perimeter and spotted the suspect when he jumped a fence into Cowell Park, which borders the home, police said.

He refused to comply with officers and one officer hit him with a pellet bag from a shotgun, but he ran away toward Roslyn Drive.

Despite having secured the perimeter and checking his escape route, police couldn't locate the man.

He is described as a black man between 20 and 30 years old with short hair. He was wearing a light blue jacket and black jeans, police said.

Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call Concord police at (925) 603-5836.
