Brush Fire Disrupts Traffic on Highway 4

Lanes in both directions reopened.

A brush fire prompted the California Highway Patrol to shut down lanes on state Highway 4 near Alhambra Way Wednesday afternoon, a CHP officer said.

The fire was reported on the right shoulder of eastbound Highway 4 just west of Alhambra Way at 2:51 p.m.

Eastbound traffic was blocked, and only one lane was open in the westbound direction, CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said. Both lanes reopened around 3:45 p.m.

Initial reports indicated that smoke was billowing across the highway.
