Body of Missing Concord Man Found in Parking Lot

Update: The 39-year-old man was reported missing by his family Monday, according to police. His body was discovered in the Church of the Nazarene parking lot on Ashbury drive.

Updated, 9 p.m. Thursday, man identified.

A body discovered in Concord Tuesday afternoon has been identified as a missing 39-year-old man, a police sergeant said this morning.

Officers responded to a call by a passerby who saw a body in the parking lot of the Church of the Nazarene in the 1600 block of Ashbury Drive around 5:38 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the body was that of a man of Pakistani descent who was reported missing by his family on Monday, said Sgt. Kristin Coupar. He was later identified as Akram Khan, a Contra Costa County coroner's deputy said.

No signs of foul play have been found in connection with the man's death, and the cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, Coupar said.

The coroner has not yet released autopsy results determining the cause of death.
