Police arrested a transient man on suspicion of arson in connection with a , a police sergeant said.
Fire crews responded around 11:50 a.m. Sunday to a fire at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Clayton Way, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
Two apartment units were badly damaged by the fire, but firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading further, according to the fire district.
On Sunday afternoon, police arrested Michael Moss, a transient living in Concord who is believed to be in his 30s, on suspicion of arson in connection with the fire, police Sgt. Sam Staten said.
Moss was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, and fire investigators continue to look into the suspected arson.
