CPD Makes Arrest in Concord's Sunday Homicide

Suspect Jason Charles Cahall, 39, was charged with murder and robbery, said police.

A Concord transient has been arrested, charged with murder and robbery in connection with the of an unidentified man on Monument Boulevard, said police. 

Jason Charles Cahall, 39, was booked at the Martinez County Jail after Concord police identified Cahall as the suspect in the killing of an unidentified 49-year-old homeless man, according to a news release.

Officers and fire personnel responded to a call at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday about an unconscious homeless person at a  shopping center on Monument Boulevard.

The unidentified dead body, which appeared to have been assaulted, was found behind a vacant video store in a makeshift homeless encampment.

Following an investigation, officers located the suspect, Cahall, around 8:30 p.m. Sunday walking along Monument Boulevard near Virginia Lane. He was interviewed by detectives, charged then transported to the Martinez Jail, according to police.
