A Word To the Wise When Calling 911

Concord Police dispatchers still need cell phone callers to tell where they're calling from.

When Concord police dispatchers are on the phone, they face a bank of computer screens, but the screens don’t pinpoint a caller’s location with a call from a cell phone.

Dispatchers want the public to know that when a resident with a cell phone calls 911, the computer screen tells the dispatcher which cell tower is relaying the call, but does not give a street location for the caller. Therefore, the cell phone caller should remember to say from where he or she is calling.
