Bikers are coming to town!

This Saturday, 50+ HOGS (bikers) are coming to Concord UMC. They are bringing toys for tots. It all started in 2006 when Methodists collected 18 toys for the children of less fortunate families. Then it grew. We added Carol Sing, a church music program, for that toy drive in 2007. We made snow-man-soup cups (A Christmas cup which holds hot cocoa, chocolate, and sugar cane!) to raise funds for the toys. In 2008 we could buy 600 toys and gave it to Marines who delivered the toys to the children. Then Ladies First (Concord High School Girls’ Choir) was added to the program. In 2009, we tried to invite baseball team members to join to this toy drive. However, Grandpa Arties 8 bikers joined, instead. Since then, they came every year with toys.

When you hear the roaring sound on Saturday morning, remember that is the sound of the bikers coming to town! That is the sound of joy of sharing! That is the sound of hospitality! If you want to see the spectacle, come to the 1645 West Street, Concord at 10 AM (December 7). We love to share stories and hot cocoa. We love to share our joys and laughter. There is no lonely person here in our town. Welcome everyone!
