Mitchell was killed Thursday while riding his bicycle in San Francisco. A funeral for the Clayton resident will be held May 30 at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette.

Funeral services for 21-year-old Clayton resident Dylan Mitchell will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette.

The class of 2010 Clayton Valley High graduate was killed while cycling in San Francisco last Thursday. He was hit by a garbage truck, according to police, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mitchell had recently moved to San Francisco for an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is remembered by his mother, Julie, as a "light that could brighten the darkest of rooms."

The family has released the following information about Mitchell's funeral service:

Dear All Friends and Family of Dylan,

Dylan Mitchell's funeral services will be held this Thursday, May 30th at 11:00am at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette. All are welcome, we want Dylan to be surrounded by love. For those who wish to attend the burial service, it will be at Gan Shalom Cemetery in Briones immediately following the funeral service. After the burial we will be having a "celebration of Dylan's life" back at our home in Clayton (roughly at 3:30pm), where everyone and anyone that wants to share their feelings, stories or anything about Dylan will be able to speak. At his funeral service at Temple Isaiah we have a limited amount of time for people to speak and that is why it is really the "celebration of Dylan's life" back at our home where we would like everyone to bring their special stories, photos, etc. to share with everyone.

It is customary for there not to be flowers at a Jewish funeral, therefore in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Dylan. Please make donations payable to Clayton Valley Wrestling Team and write "The Dylan Mitchell Memorial Fund" on the memo line. For those who would like to donate to the Mitchell Family to help with Dylan's funeral expenses please make donations payable to Julie Mitchell. Mail all donations to: P.O. Box 141, Clayton, CA 94517
