Concord, Clayton Death Notices

Some of the people with connections to Concord and Clayton who passed away recently

Claire Lorraine Lori Dalton, a resident of Clayton, was born in Chicago and adopted when she was 3 days old. She and her husband moved to Concord in 1962 and then to Clayton in 1980. Dalton passed away on July 24 at the age of 84.

Dolores DeBarr, a resident of Concord, was born in Oakland and graduated from University High School. She and her husband moved to Concord in 1953. DeBarr worked in administration in several businesses as well as in civil service. She enjoyed golf, gardening and bridge. She passed away on July 18 at the age of 85.

Thomas D. Kosinski, a resident of Concord, was a U.S. Army veteran. He also worked at Ex-Cello Corp. as an engineer for more than 30 years. Kosinski passed away on July 23 at the age of 85.

Eduard Paul "Ed" Rockey, a resident of Concord, was a medic in the U.S. Navy.  He owned Holbrook Pharmacy in Concord for five years before operating Oakley Pharmacy for 25 years. Rockey and his wife also owned Bett's Hallmark in Antioch before he retired in 2006. He was also a member of MENSA. Rockey passed away on July 23 at the age of 82.

Wilhelmina "Wilma" Van Hofwegen, a resident of Concord, raised her family in Walnut Creek. She and her husband co-owned a specialty gift shop for awhile in St. Helena. They started new churches in Walnut Creek and Napa. Van Hofwegen passed away on July 25 at the age of 83.

Stanley Ki Foong Won, a resident of Concord, worked in education for 34 years in Hawaii and Oakland. Won passed away on June 9 at the age of 81.

James Schmalzel, a resident of Clayton, was raised in Arizona and played football for Stanford University. He worked for 30 years as a project engineer for Babcock & Wilcox. He volunteered at the Lesher Theatre, the Suicide and Crisis Hotline, Meals on Wheels, the Clayton Library and the Boy Scouts of America, among other groups. He visited all seven continents during his lifetime. Schmalzel passed away on July 20 at the age of 79.
