Library Cardholders Get Free BART Tickets to Bay Area Museums

Q: What’s better than a free BART ticket?

A: A free BART ticket to a Bay Area museum.

The county library and 511 Contra Costa are again offering free BART tickets to library cardholders during July and August. The Discover and Go program is aimed at getting library-goers to the wealth of museums in the area, and using BART to get there.

Library patrons can get up to three $10 BART tickets by going to the Discover and Go section of the library’s web site.

Patrons can make reservations for the following venues:

  • Aquarium of the Bay
  • Asian Art Museum
  • Bedford Gallery
  • California Academy of Sciences
  • California Shakespeare Theater
  • Cartoon Art Museum
  • Children's Creativity Museum
  • Contemporary Jewish Museum
  • Habitot Children's Museum
  • Museum of the African Diaspora
  • Oakland Museum of California
  • Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
To sign-up for free BART tickets, view your July or August reservation on your Discover & Go account:

1) Click to Print your pass, then
2) Click on the "need transportation" banner on your pass to sign-up.

BART tickets will be mailed to cardholders' homes via standard 1st Class U.S. Postal Service within five business days of their request. The BART ticket offer is limited to one request per household and the offer is available while supplies last.
