Then you get home and have to cook dinner

I have 1 word for that – Ex-haust-ing

Dinner is probably the most difficult meal of the day, and unless we build some strategies into our lives it’s the easiest to accidentally splurge on and can sabotage you results

Habit #1 Plan Your meals

We call this our Sunday Ritual. We plan out all the meals we will need for the week, when we are planning to have left overs, when we are planning to eat out, and when we are planning our splurge meals. It takes a little bit of time, but over the course of the week we have a lot more free time to enjoy our meals.

Here’s how it works:

Plan 1 to 3 meals

Shop for them

Rock on

Want it even simpler? Do like my friend Dan John has a menu for every day of the week:

Monday – Steak and Salad with veggies

Tuesday – Chicken and rice with veggies

Wednesday – Jambalaya. Prep this the night before and let is slow cook

Thursday – Meat fest! Grill everything in sigh plus any veggies worthy of the grill.

Friday – Chicken enchiladas

Saturday: Pot roast or stew in the slow cooker

Sunday: Communal meal with family and friends

It seriously doesn’t get easier than that

Habit #2  Prep Day

To make the menu process even easier we suggest you incorporate a prep day. The prep day is when you go through your recipes and prep everything you can, cut veggies, grill meats for lunches, put lunches in reusable container, etc.

The less you have to think about what you’re going to eat the better.

Habit #3 1 Meal, 1 Family

This is a habit that my mom taught me and was reinforced by one of my friends whose kids have some of the most restrictive eating patterns. No wheat, no dairy, no nuts, and a bunch more allergies.

She still sticks to the 1 Meal 1 Family rule. It’s a very simple rule – you cook 1 Meal for everyone, no exceptions.

You’re not a short order cook, and you don’t deserve the stress involved with that kind of cooking.

Apply these rules, and crush dinner!
