Concord's Senator Bestows Posthumous Award on Volunteer

Mary Lou Laubscher named District 7 Woman of the Year.

Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) publicly recognized the late Mary Lou Laubscher’s commitment to Contra Costa County this week, naming her District Seven Woman of the Year.

Laubscher’s husband Wes and her grandson Travis Nicholas accepted the award on her behalf at The Keller House.

Concord Mayor Dan Helix verbally lauded her contributions to the community during the ceremony as did Senator DeSaulnier.

“Mary Lou exemplifies the great American principle that we can expect extraordinary things from ordinary people,” DeSaulnier said. “She believed that each individual could contribute to accomplish amazing things in our community, and inspired many people to get involved.”
