A Suffrage Film Fest : Equal Suffrage for Women

As part of the continuing centennial celebration of womens' right to vote in California, the Martinez and Contra Costa Historical Societies present A Suffrage Film Fest on three Monday evenings. The first film is One Woman, One Vote, the 1995 PBS American Experience film which covers the 72 years between the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention where Elizabeth Cady Stanton announced the goal, and its achievement in August 1920 when the 19th Amendment was ratified. It is the dramatic story of the occasionally bitter struggle and the enduring partnership of Stanton and Susan B. Anthony and the women who succeeded them in the long campaign.

On succeeding Mondays, March 26 and April 2, How California Women Won the Vote and Iron-Jawed Angels will be shown.

All films will include a brief discussion period and light refreshments. A donation of $5 would be appreciated.
