Concord Police Raising Money For Special Olympics

Concord residents will have a chance to eat a gourmet burger and help special athletes at the same time.

Police officers will be putting down the citation pad this October to raise money for the Special Olympics of Northern California.

The Concord Police Department is partnering with Red Robin Gourmet Burgers to raise money for the Special Olympics of Northern California. This is one of 27 events taking place simultaneously throughout the state. Last year, BART police joined the annual endeavor and raised $3,005, according to Ilisa Kessler, vice president of marketing for the Special Olympics of Northern California.

Local Law enforcement officials will be helping servers bring food and drinks to people that day, a Red Robin staff member told Patch. The restaurant will have the same amount of employees working that day. The tips officers collect will be given to the Special Olympics of Northern California, which provides free athletic coaching to people with intellectual and mobility challenges.

The event will take place from 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. on October 12, 2013. Red Robin is located 404 Sun Valley Mall # A in Concord California.
