Financial Planning Association Nets 4,000 Meals for the Food Bank

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties received a donation of 4,000 meals from The East Bay Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

The Third Annual East Bay FPA Golf Tournament and Fund Raiser allowed the nonprofit organization to make donations to three local charities that help those affected by inadequate financial resources.

As an organization comprised of financial planning experts and financial service professionals, we are intimately aware of the challenges faced by individuals and families with inadequate resources.  We feel it is our obligation to do what we can both monetarily and with our time to help the less fortunate.  I feel so privileged to be associated with such a caring group,” says President-elect and event chair, Brian Gemmer.

Even though the East Bay Chapter of the Financial Planning Association is itself a nonprofit organization, it is not uncommon for it to provide resources to other nonprofit organizations that help those struggling financially.

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano works to end hunger and increase access to nutritious food for low-income individuals and families through a comprehensive group of programs that combat hunger and its causes.

“The donation of 4,000 meals will go a long way in feeding local families,” says Lisa Sherrill, Community Relations Manager, Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

In addition to the 4,000 meals donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, donations were made to RotaCare Concord and The Salvation Army of Central Contra Costa County.
