Spiral Dance

Daughters of the Goddess welcomes women and girls of all ages to join us for our Annual Spiral Dance on Friday, October 25, 2013.  Each year at this sacred time, when the nights are long and the veil is thin, we come together to honor and to celebrate our beloved dead.  An altar is built dedicated to our Ancestors, as the women arrive they add their pictures and mementos of their loved ones who have passed to the altar. The walls are covered with many pictures of the  women whose lives we honor and celebrate for their role in herstory. There are many different cultures who honor their ancestors at this time of year with holidays such as The Day of the Dead, All Saints Day and Halloween. We join them in taking this night to celebrate, and to connect with our beloved Ancestors through dancing ,singing, prayer and storytelling. Together we will dance the Spiral Dance in honor of the seasons of life and to call in healing for ourselves and for the world.

The ceremony will be held at the Orinda Masonic Temple, 9 Altarinda Rd. in Orinda, CA. Opening at 6:30 is a spectacular marketplace filled with beautiful crafts and services from women all over the Bay Area. The ritual, led by Daughters of the Goddess Kahuna and High Priestess Leilani, will begin at 7:30. The ticket cost is $23.00 if paid in advance by October 22nd, or $29.00 if paid at the door. Student and Crone discounts are available. Daughters of the Goddess asks that you please bring your drums and rattles, as well as pictures of your loved ones that have passed to be placed on the Ancestor Altar. Daughters of the Goddess is a Dianic Temple and community that is dedicated in the spirit of aloha to the preservation, perpetuation, and promotion of multicultural Goddess culture, public ceremony, ritual, and Women's Mysteries. The Temple was established on the Summer Solstice in 1996 by Kahuna and High Priestess, Leilani Birely.
