UPDATE: Snow? And a Light Show?

The cold storm that is sweeping through the Bay Area has turned Mt. Diablo into a winter wonderland.

It's been a flurry of, ah, activity up on our Mountain. First snow, then a light show? See the link above for info about the strange lights.

An unusual flurry of snow hit Mt. Diablo and tops of East Bay ridges and the Bay Area's highest peaks Friday night. The snow began coming down to elevation levels just under 1,800 feet where temperatures dipped into the 30s.

Rain showers across the Bay Area Saturday were to be accompanied by a slight chance of thunderstorms. The possiblity of wet weather was expected to continue through President's Day and the early part of the week.

On Saturday, highs of around 50 and west winds of 5 to 15 mph are also expected. Mostly cloudy weather is expected overnight, with a chance of showers also in the evening.

Lows near 40 and northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph are expected Saturday night. Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy and drier, with coastal and inland highs in the mid 50s predicted. Variable winds of 5 to 10 mph are also expected.
