VIDEO: Highs Stuck in the Low 70s This Week

Strange cool weather will continue with rain a possibility in the middle of the week.

More chilly weather and high wind speeds are forecast for Clayton for the week. Usually during May, a ridge of high pressure builds over the eastern Pacific Ocean, which provides the warm air and calm conditions we are used to this time of year. Unfortunately, this year, the ridge is positioned too far to the west, which allows low-pressure systems to continue to come down the West Coast.

The movement of the jet stream has been responsible for our inconsistent May weather. The position of the jet stream by the weekend is in question, meaning it could warm up by Friday or stay on the cooler side. I’ll have an update for your Memorial Day weekend weather later this week.
