Soccer Clinic Saturday with the California Storm

Assemblywoman Susan A. Bonilla, is hosting a free soccer clinic for girls this Saturday at Tesoro Fields, 1743 Arnold Industrial Way.

Members of the California Storm, a women's semi-professional soccer team, will lead the clinic. Through pre-registration, approximately 200 girls ages 10-16 will participate in the clinic. The goal is to help promote confidence in young girls while having a great time with some outstanding role models.

Many Storm players through the years have played on the US Olympic and World Champion National teams. Ten former players from the Storm have moved up to play professionally for the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league. Currently, the Storm boasts of having Brazilian superstar Sissi on their roster, who was voted by FIFA as one of the best women soccer players ever in the world.

The clinic will give girls the opportunity to meet and interact with top-notch players who have competed at the highest level.

A food drive is also being held for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties. For every can of food or dollar donated, Tesoro Golden Eagle Refinery will donate $1 (up to $1,000). Donors will receive a raffle ticket for every item or dollar donated. Prizes include $150 gift card, shopping spree, movie tickets, and more.
