National Magazine Spotlights John Muir Medical Center

Walnut Creek center is on U.S. News & World Report's annual list of America's best hospitals for the fifth year in a row.

John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek has landed on the big list again.

For the fifth consecutive year, the center has been named to U.S. News & World Report's annual list of America's Best Hospitals.

John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek, was ranked in the Top 50 in orthopedics and gastroenterology, making the center one of the top-ranked facilities on the West Coast in those specialties and the only non-academic medical center in Northern California to appear in the Top 50, according to a news release from the medical center.

"We thank the entire John Muir Health family — our physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers — for their ongoing dedication to the health of our patients and the community,” said Jane Willemsen, president and chief administrative officer of John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek. “This recognition is a tribute to their talent, skills and commitment and affirms our dedication to providing outstanding care and an exceptional patient experience.”

In hospital rankings for the San Francisco area, Walnut Creek is listed at No. 2 and John Muir Medical Center, Concord, at No. 3 out of all 45 hospitals surveyed. In total, the two hospitals had 19 services nationally ranked or rated as high performing, including Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Urology.
