More Rain, Wind Expected On Sunday

PG&E remains on alert for power outages as another storm hits the Bay Area

Brace yourself.

Another round of rain is expected to hit the East Bay on Sunday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 90 percent chance of rain on Sunday with winds between 17 and 22 miles per hour in the afternoon. Gusts could be as strong as 28 miles per hour.

Showers are predicted for Sunday night and then it's a mostly sunny day projected for Monday, Christmas Eve.

There's a 20 percent chance of rain on Tuesday, Christmas Day. The forecast is for partly sunny skies.

The rain and, more importantly, the wind have Pacific Gas & Electric Company on alert again this weekend. On the utilitys' outage map on Sunday morning, there was only one outage listed in central Contra Costa County. That affected 140 customers in Bay Point. It was reported at 5:12 a.m. and was expected to be fixed by 8:30 a.m.

PG&E has extra crew members on hand and on call this weekend. They advise people to have plenty of batteries and candles on hand. They also caution customers to be wary of downed power lines. If you see one, don't go near it. Instead, call 9-1-1.
