UPDATE: Driver Who Hit MDUSD Bus May Have Suffered 'Cardiac Problem'

Driver, all four students are OK; woman in other vehicle was transported to the hospital.

BAY CITY NEWS—A Pittsburg woman who crashed head-on into a school bus in Concord this morning appears to have suffered a possible cardiac problem just before the crash, California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Maguire said.

The low-speed crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Cowell Road and Babel Lane.

A Mount Diablo Unified School District bus with four students on board was stopped at a red light at Cowell Road and Babel Lane shortly before 8 a.m. when a 2002 Volvo drove slowly through the intersection, possibly running a red light, and struck the bus head-on, Maguire said.

The driver of the school bus and the children on board were all wearing seat belts and nobody on the bus was hurt, Maguire said.

As of about 9:40 a.m., the children were being picked up by their parents and guardians at the scene.

The road was reopened at about 10 a.m., Maguire said.
