Save the flag, pure madness, a birthday party and read, read, read

  • Where/When: Del Valle Theatre 1963 Tice Valley Blvd., Walnut Creek; Saturday, 7 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Join the Dillon Moore Academy annual show for a celebration of Irish dance.  It will feature lively music and colorful presentations of traditional and contemporary, award-winning dance.
  • Price: $14
  • Where/When: Border's Books in Pleasant Hill; Saturday, 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Kids ages six to 10, visit Border's Books in Pleasant Hill for a Read Across America event. This special event celebrates reading — and the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Children can even submit a book review for publication on Borders.com. 
  • Price: Free
  • Where/When: ; Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Why Go: The fantasy forum presents "Cinderella," a romantic story about a girl's dream to find her true love, and the attempts by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters to foil the plan. With the audience's help, Cinderella's fairy godmother makes her dreams come true.

  • Why Go: Come meet a special guest, Peter Rabbit, at the Barnes & Noble children's storytime.

  • Why Go: Calvary Temple will host its first crab feed to benefit the Singing Flag 2011. There also will be live and silent auctions, a drawing and live music.

  • Why Go: Seven Hills School has simplified summer planning by bringing camps from all over the area to its campus. The camps cover all age groups and parents can gather brochures, and meet camp counselors and directors.
