Frugal Family: Art Projects For Everyone

Get crafty this week with special deals and everyday low prices on art supplies and classes.

Families who create together, stay together and Patch found some local spots for you to participate in arts and crafts by yourself or with a friend, family member or child. 

So, get crafty this week with special deals and everyday low prices on art supplies and classes for activities such as kids crafts, quilting, flower arranging and more.

There is a project for every age in Clayton. You can take a class and learn how to do something new and pick up supplies at discounted prices while sales last. Check below for new crafting ideas and then visit local stores to pick up the supplies you need to create something new and affordable. Don’t forget to print the attached coupons when required.

1. THIMBLE CREEK

Deal: Take a quilt making and/or wall hanging class in March or April. Classes vary depending on quilt. Prices range from $35 to $90.

Suggestion: Classes may fill up, so register early.

Good through: April

2. JO-ANN FABRIC AND CRAFT STORES

Deal: Watch a demo at Jo-Ann’s on how to use a Circuit and a Gypsy for papercrafting.

The Fine Print: Class is scheduled for one day.

Suggestion: Papercrafting supplies are 40 percent off. If you sign up at the store or online to be a Jo-Ann VIP, save 10 percent on every purchase.

Good through: Demo is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Papercrafting sale ends Saturday.

3. THE GARDENS AT HEATHER FARM

Deal: Take a flower-arranging class specializing in buds, bark and branches on Friday and/or March 4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Classes are $60 for nonmembers, $55 for members and include a $15 materials fee.

The Fine Print: Classes available on above dates only.

Suggestion: Buy tickets online.

Good through: Classes Friday and March 4.

4. BEVERLY’S FABRIC & CRAFTS

Deal: Shop the sales at Beverly’s to get all sorts of items you’ll need for kid’s crafts. Load up on 9x12 felt squares, six for $1, Glitter Foamie sheets $1.47; pony beads, 480 pieces for $1.97.

The Fine Print: All items on sale, no coupons required.

Suggestion: While you’re in the store, pick up some Klutz craft books and Lara’s wooden craft items 25 percent off.

5. TARGET

Deal: Pick up 4x6 digital prints in store for 10 cents each. Photos can be printed directly from your Facebook page or other media source for use in your latest art project.

The Fine Print: Orders must be placed in store.

Suggestion: Check out the stationery section of your local Target for other great crafting items.
