The Basketball Chronicles: Ready, Set, League!

The Eagles are pumped and ready for league games to begin, with an impressive record to jump start their success.

With the new year fast approaching, students at Clayton Valley High are happy to be on break. Carefree and -- more imporantly -- school-free days have arrived, so everyone is looking forward to ringing in the new year with style. But for the boys basketball team, there are more important things to worry about:

After a very successful preseason, the team has about a one week break from games for the holidays before it comes time to face off in their first league game. The opponent is Berean Christian High School ... and the Eagles want to win.

With seven preseason wins under their belt, the CVHS Eagles have established an intimidating reputation among local competition, leading on-lookers to believe this win is possible. Co-captain Tyler Kobata seems satisfied with these predictions, publicly posting online, "for those of you who doubted us, we are 8-3 ... heading into league ranked number one". My guess is most skeptics will change their views when they get a look at the team's impressive track record.

But who is the biggest competition for this year's team?

Based on results from the last league season it will be the Northgate Broncos and College Park Falcons. Northgate had a perfect league season, losing zero of their twelve games; College Park was not far behind, losing only two. That being said, the Eagles have some work to do - although it seems they've already improved considerably since last season.

In any case, if you still haven't caught a glimpse of these formidable players in action, it's time to find your way to the Clayton Valley High School gymnasium.

The Eagles have landed in Concord, California; they've stretched their wings, and now they're ready to soar. This league season is going to be something you don't want to miss.
