5 Things I'm Thankful For

Everyone has something to be thankful for this holiday season, but with so many good things in our lives what stands out?

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, I've been thinking a lot about "thanks".

We all think we know exactly what it means to be thankful, and every year people spread their thankful feelings through volunteer work or other selfless acts.

This is but one of the reasons I love Thanksgiving so much, because it reminds us to take joy from the little things in life instead of focusing on more material things. This day of thanks is centered around family and good food; what could be better?

But just in case you aren't quite sure what you could possibly have to be thankful for, I've compiled a short list of things I find myself thankful for this holiday season. Perhaps you will be inspired by my list, or just realize what you have to be thankful for:

1) First on my list, I am thankful for my family. It's because of their love and support that I was able to become the person I am today. I am also thankful for my sister, because she is always there to lend an ear, hand or handkerchief to me, no matter how grumpy I act.

2) I am also thankful for my health and the health of my family. I hope that we will continue to live active and healthy lifestyles.

3) I'm thankful for the opportunities I have been given to volunteer. I love being able to give back to people and organizations that can make the world a better place.

4) Education. I am thankful for the opportunity to learn more and further my education. I am glad I have the good fortune of learning something new each day.

5) And for the final thing on this short "I am thankful for..." list, I am thankful for my pets. While I am not a crazy cat lady, I still like to unwind in the simplicity of their world sometimes. Plus, it's nice to have a fluffy friend.

And so, with the most thankful holiday of the year nearly upon us, I hope my list has inspired you to create your own for this Thanksgiving Day. We all have plenty to be thankful for, whether it's a million dollar car or five dollar bag of groceries. What's on your list?
