Toscana Closes, New Italian Restaurant Moving In

Blaming the tough economy, Toscana has shut its doors for good. Ravioli's Italian Marketplace will be relocating from Clayton Road to the space in Todos Santos Plaza.

Passersby have been stopping and staring in disbelief at the papered-over windows of Toscana this week. The Italian restaurant closed for good last Sunday evening, hanging a sign on the door that reads, "due to state of our economy, we are no longer able to stay open."

"They always seemed so busy!" said a commenter on the Concord Patch Facebook page.

The restaurant is the second business in Todos Santos Plaza to shut down in recent weeks, after the clothing store Sway closed in August due to lack of business, route: {:controller=>"articles", :action=>"show", :id=>"sprouts-shutters-build-a-bear-moving"} -->. I am really disappointed to be losing Toscana. We have been there several times and always enjoyed ourselves. The food was terrific, if slightly pricey (frequent Groupons helped, but I'm sure they didn't help Toscana's bottom line). The ambience was great. We especially liked eating dinner there on the outdoor patio while watching the show in the park across the street. We especially liked this one tall Italian waiter. He was so dignified and courteous he made us feel like we were sitting in a restaurant in Europe. The whole place was like a little bit of Europe in America. We wish good luck finding jobs to all the personel who worked there; we will miss you.

Ask Toscana how well Groupon did for them.

I didn't realize Sway closed too. I haven't been in there lately but it was a fun store.

Never went to Toscana, but heard it was tasty. However, the Italian Market is incredible and will do very well!

I'm excited to see Ravioli's moving downtown. They've outgrown their current space simply by serving fresh, homemade deliciousness with friendly, gracious service. I know they will do well.
