Sprouts & Shutters: Plate & Vine Opens, Sway Closes

Concord

Open: Plate & Vine opened in the Hilton Concord Sept. 4. The new “California-style” restaurant incorporates locally sourced organic ingredients from nearby farms such as the California Olive Ranch and Frog Hollow Farm in Brentwood and County Line Harvest in Petaluma. Each menu item even lists the food’s source: “Red Organic Quinoa & Zucchini Carpaccio—Sunol CA,” for example. The sustainable restaurant also filters and bottles its water in house and delivers it to customers in reusable glass bottles. Closed: The Berkeley-based womens clothing store Sway closed its Todos Santos Plaza location at the end of August. Staff said the reason was lack of business. The company has five other locations in Northern California, three of which are in the East Bay in Oakland, Alameda and Berkeley.
