Sears Holdings is expected to shut down at least 100 of its 4,000-plus Kmart and Sears stores, but the list of affected stores has not yet been released.

The planned closures were initially reported in an internal memo from CEO Lou D'Ambrosio that was picked up by the media.

A Sears Holdings spokeswoman told Patch that the list of affected stores has not yet been released.

Concord has a Kmart store that was among the many stores nationwide that were visited by "layaway angels" over the holidays. Now it may need the protection of an angel itself.

The city is also home to the Sears store at Sunvalley Shopping Center --- whose fate is also unknown at this point.
