Who Wants to Play ‘Scratch’ in ‘Chasing Rodriguez’?

Jeff Mosley's movie is filming in Concord in August.

Patch received a nice email this week from Jeff Mosley, director of the movie Chasing Rodriguez, filming in Concord and Contra Costa County this summer.

If you want to watch the process, drop by Todos Santos Plaza, Concord, on Monday, Aug. 22, or Sequoia Middle School, Pleasant Hill, on Thursday, Aug. 25.

And if you’re a 14- or 15-year-old skateboard with some acting chops, the director is looking for you. Mosley said the moviemakers are almost done with the casting with some 19 actors lined up, but are still looking for this teen of any ethnicity to play “Scratch.”

The actor must be available for a Cast Table Read on July 23 and then available for filming between Aug. 8 and Aug. 30.

The plot of the film involves four teenagers competing in a film contest. They inadvertently film a robbery in progress, and the plot goes from there, according to the video on the Chasing Rodriguez website.

Part of the proceeds of the film are to benefit the Mount Diablo Unified School District.

At the movie’s website, you can donate money, pre-purchase a DVD or sign up for a cinematic tryout.
