Get Out: Movie, Concert and 'The Wizard of Oz'

Plenty of good music and theater this weekend, and the Lindsey Museum if you have time.

  • Why Go: Come to the plaza for the market and music, stay for the baseball movie. Take Me Out to the Ball Game is a classic featuring Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Esther Williams.

Concert in the Grove: A Swingin' Evening

  • Where/When: ; Saturday, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Go downtown on Saturday nights for Concerts in The Grove at the Gazebo at “The Grove” Park. Get ready for a swingin’ evening with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Rat Pack Orchestra. A fun-filled, nostalgic trip back in time when Frank and Dean ruled the airways with such classic hits as "Fly Me to the Moon," "That’s Amore," "Lady is a Tramp," "I’ve Got You Under My Skin" and many, many more.

The Wizard of Oz at Broadway Plaza

  • Why Go: Meet the cast from Diablo Theatre Company's upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz. See performances by the cast and dress as your favorite Oz character for a chance to win some prizes.

Lafayette Music Festival

  • Where/When: ; Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: In an effort to support the wonderful theater programs at The Town Hall, local musicians are coming together to perform in an all-acoustic show featuring Lafayette's own Mark Stanley, and seasoned veteran, guitarist Dell Burchett from the legendary local band, Rock Island; Drew Harrison, who performs as John Lennon from the tribute band The Sun Kings; local favorites, Paul Cotruvo and Toni Bryant from Cover2Cover; singer/violinist, Katy Lawrence and many others.

Free Day at Lindsay Wildlife Museum

  • Why Go: Lindsay Wildlife Museum is offering free admission to all visitors, who will get to know the owls, reptiles, fox, hawks, eagles and other live animals that reside at the museum. Visitors can watch feeding and training demonstrations, learn about nature and experience hands-on learning in a family environment.
