Frugal Family: Deals for Teens

Check out events, activities, classes and more for teens.

This week’s Frugal Family focuses on teen activities to keep your teen busy as school winds down and summer approaches. With lessons, classes and groups available, your teen will have plenty to do to pass the time. And the best part? Many of the events are free.

Deal: The Concord Library holds a teen knitting group once a month called . Teens can bring in their projects and get help or advice from an instructor. Teen knitters of any skill level are welcome to attend the free event. The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, June 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

2. PADDOCK BOWL

Deal: Go bowling at Paddock Bowl, 5915 Pacheco Boulevard, in Pacheco on Fridays from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. for just $15 per person, per night. Light shows, strobe lights and a DJ are included, as well as unlimited bowling.

The Fine Print: Event is only available at the dates and times listed above.

Deal: Shop special deals at Zumiez to get teen-appropriate summer clothes at an affordable price. Tees and Tanks for girls and boys are buy 2 for $25.

Deal: Teens can sign up for art classes at Shadelands Arts Center and take classes over summer. Teen Clay classes are scheduled for Wednesdays or Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. starting June 29. Eight weekly classes cost $108.

The Fine Print: A $33 supply fee is due at the first class. The class is for children age 12 to 17 and is only available at the dates and times listed above. Classes end on August 18.

Extra, Extra: Learn abut other teen art classes such as drawing and painting.

Good Through: June 29 to August 18.

5.

Deal: Kids age 10 and older as well as adults are invited to play football in Walnut Creek. The team meets on Tuesdays and Fridays and usually has one game per week.

The Fine Print: Ultimate Football is not a league and there is no cost to participate.
