Downtown Concord to Host 10th Annual 'Diversity' Spring Festival

The event takes place Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Concord's Spring Festival on May 4 marks 10 years of encouraging "goodwill and harmony" among diverse faith groups by celebrating in Todos Santos Plaza.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes dance performances and a market. Speakers include Will McGarvey of the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County and Dr. Harmesh Kumar, founder of the South Asian Behavioral Health and Training (SABH) Foundation in Concord. Congressman John Garamendi and Concord Mayor Dan Helix will be in attendance.

The festival was started in 2003 by Kumar, the Interfaith Council and Sri Guru Ravidas Sikh Temple in Pittsburg "to build bridges and understanding between each faith community and to showcase the talents and culture of each faith," according to the South Asian Behavioral Health and Training (SABH) Foundation.
